In the largely African-American community of Roosevelt, the white Stern had trouble fitting in.
Over the years, Stern has referred to a rough childhood that saw him the target of periodic school fights.
"I want them to see the character, the story that I'm telling, you know."And apparently his girlfriend -- he refused to say how long they've been dating -- wants to stay out of the spotlight, too."The girl that I'm with, she really doesn't want to be a part of it and you can imagine not wanting to have that kind of scrutiny," he said.
Apparently the two met through "mutual friends" and when asked if he was in love, he shied away from the question."Oh, jeez, man! This is getting private." (At least that's what Stern wanted it to be.)The idea came about in 2008 and he finished the script while shooting "The Dark Knight Rises" and said he "was stoned" when he first thought of it as a comedy.
On his Wednesday show, Stern asked Schumer about her split from fellow comedian and Roseanne Barr roaster Anthony Jeselnik. Although his physique awed her, Schumer had to break it off because the sex was just too much.
("He was not attentive enough," she said.) Schumer told Stern that Jeselnik had to win her back. She dumped him via text, which is when she found out the muscle man had a very tender heart. Schumer was on Stern's show to promote her first stand-up comedy special "Mostly Sex Stuff," which premiered Saturday on Comedy Central.

Repeated fines and interference from the FCC eventually drove the self-styled "King of All Media" to satellite radio in 2004.
"He likes the 'one-way thing,' he doesn't actually want to deal with a person, another human being."The film also stars Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore and Tony Danza.
But in Gordon-Levitt's real life, he's "quick to run" in long-term relationships, Stern said."I think I'm a pretty good person and a good boyfriend.
"It wasn't any better in Rockville Centre," Howard Stern wrote in his 1993 best-selling autobiography, Howard dominated his high school years by staying close with a few buddies, playing poker and ping-pong.
In the fall of 1972, Stern left New York and enrolled at Boston University where the first hints of his future "shock jock" career would make a showing.
